Wood Duck Reproduction

A wood duck usually breeds in the summertime. The female wood duck produces tan white eggs. The average amount of eggs is 15, but it varies greatly. Wood ducks have their nests in the cavities of trees.

The difference between male and female wood ducks is that males are more brightly colored, but females are more toned down colorwise.

Wood Duck Habitat

Wood ducks are shy animals, and will run or hide.
The most common environments that a wood duck lives in is: lakes, wooded swamps, ponds, marshes, or lakes, nothing to extreme or special.

Wood ducks move around depending on the seasons. They are found in North America.

Wood Duck

A average wood duck is about 20 in. wide, a moderately sized bird. A wood duck can weigh anywhere from 15 to 30 ounces. They have longer tails than most birds, and have a crest on top of their heads. A wood ducks head is average compared to its body in proportion. Wood duck wings are very long when fully matured, at around 29 inches.
They are perching ducks.
